This summer we celebrated many things, but coming alongside couples as they enter marriage was the happiest. Jason and Alexia got married at the end of July on one of the hottest, most humid days of summer. We have been friends throughout all of college and into our young adult years. When they asked me to take their wedding photos, I simply could not turn down this opportunity to capture their joy, love for others and deep devotion to one another.
After a whirlwind trip to Colorado the week before their wedding, Jake and I were so excited to settle down for a weekend in Iowa, where we used to live. The Katsma’s know how to throw a wedding weekend. It kicked off with their rehearsal dinner at the local pool – a perfect way to cool off from the thick Midwest humidity. Saturday morning started off with breakfast at their favorite coffee shop, getting ready with loved ones at the church and taking their first look. And it wouldn’t be a Jason and Alexia event without dancing into the night.
Jason and Alexia have a unique ability to savor each and every moment. They took time to have conversations with loved ones, hug family members and live into their special day. Marriage is so much bigger than the wedding day itself. Jason and Alexia’s wedding was a celebration of their relationship and a foundation for their marriage. It was such a joy to capture their wedding and the beginning to something great!
P.S. As a fun fact, we took their engagement photos on one of the coldest days of the year and Jason and Alexia’s wedding was on one of the hottest! These two are champs no matter what the weather has in store!
