As if it didn’t feel official already, Memorial Day weekend kicks off summer in my mind. The BBQ’s, long walks after work and flowing summer dresses are here to stay – at least for a few months till the Minnesota winter creeps back. I kicked off this summer weekend with a bang by visiting my sister up north in her college town with my BFF Kippen, who is practically a sister. We were craving a weekend away to do girly things, go on adventures and enjoy quality time together.
Kippen, Leah and I all enjoy being creative in our own unique ways. It is fun when we are all together and can feed off of each other. Leah taught us how to do make up, which let’s be real, it has been years since I regularly wore make up last and I definitely needed some help getting back into it. We explored the local eateries and ate all the delicious foods. In between sleeping in, eating and making our own sangria drinks, we watched movies and New Girl, waded through the river and took lots of photos. Sister weekends are the best, because we don’t need strict plans to have fun and enjoy time together.
The older I get, the more I recognize how important relationships like these are. Leah and I have very different personalities, interests and styles, but that is what makes our sisterhood strong and unique. Kippen and I have been friends since junior high and share so many memories and experiences together. The best of friends are sisters. Those that can laugh together, cry together, dance together and eat together. They steady people in life who always care, always listen and always know when something is up. These two are gems and having them in my life is priceless.
What did you do over Memorial Day weekend? What do you like to do over sister or sibling weekends?
