The Little Black Dress

Style your little black dress three ways with thredUp!

Every girl needs a little black dress and trust me, I have several. One for date nights, one for work and now a versatile anytime, anywhere little black dress. A girl needs options, right? That is how I like to justify it as most of my wardrobe is made up of neutrals.

In all seriousness, you know how much I love staple wardrobe pieces that are appropriate for a variety of occasions. When I refreshed my spring wardrobe, one gap I found in my closet was dresses that can be professional enough for work yet fun enough for happy hour or dinner out afterwards. I live in dresses throughout the spring, summer and fall. Having clothing options that keep up with my pace of life is a non-negotiable for me. I don’t love bringing a change of clothes to work or going home to change before going on to my after work plans.

My new little black dress from thredUp fits the bill perfectly. I actually happen to have the exact same dress from Gap in royal blue and I wear it all the time — like probably too much! As I was browsing through all my favorite brands on thredUp, at incredibly discounted prices might I add, I came across this dress in black! With my love for neutrals and my obsession with the fit of this dress in particular, it ended up in my cart in record time.

I could not be more thrilled with having this piece in my closet now! It is the little black dress of my dreams and oh so adaptable to my lifestyle. I’ve included three unique ways to style a little black dress for different occasions. The possibilities are so endless!

The Professional Little Black Dress

With a smaller wardrobe, I feel like I repeat outfits a lot, especially for work. With classic pieces, like this dress, I can change them up enough to get away with it. For a professional environment like my workplace, I love wearing my little black dress with a statement necklace, tights and dressy shoes. If I have plans afterwards, I can easily switch out shoes or take my tights off to make the outfit less dressy.

The Everyday Little Black Dress

So along with my little black dress, I’ve been obsessed with my green utility vest. Why not pair two of my favorite pieces together for a classic everyday look? I would totally wear this outfit each and everyday if it was socially acceptable. It is incredibly comfortable for being out and about, running errands or getting together with friends. If I could choose one outfit to describe my personality, it may just be this one!

The Date Night Little Black Dress

Jake and I don’t often go on fancy dates, but it is still fun to dress up a bit when we go out to dinner or spend time together. This date night outfit is easy, fresh and fun for being out on the town. Our dates tend to be somewhat spontaneous and we often change plans if our original ideas are too expensive, too long of a wait or simply fall through. We are kind of simple people when it comes to dates — ha! This outfit is super versatile and really up for any sort of adventure we may find ourselves on.

I love thredUp! I buy more stuff for my kids than for myself, but I love their selection and quality.

    • Oh, I haven’t even ventured into their kids section (as I don’t have kids haha!), but I can imagine their selection and quality is just as strong as their women’s section.

  • Love this post! Great style options – especially with the khaki vest. x
